2. Use ftp client software (FileZilla) to transfer files:

NOTE:

  • In the second video, at the top of the screen in FileZilla, you have to fill in your server information.
    HOST: this should be your server sub-domain address. There should be no http://www. Mine, for example, should be gslis720.agilityhoster.com. (You can find this information from the How to Register a Server video above.)
    USERNAME: fill in your username or ID for signing in your ftp server;
    PASSWORD: fill in your password for your ftp server;
    PORT: fill in this number – 21

3. Use Dreamweaver built-in function to transfer files:

Assignments (5 points):

  1. Register for a Web server.
  2. Create a Web page with two to three paragraphs introducing yourself. It should include your name, brief academic background, and your interests/hobby/favorite books/movies (1 point) with headings, bold, and italics (1 point).
  3. Save it as index.html.
  4. Use one of the three file transfer methods and upload your Web page to your server (1 point).
  5. Submit your Web page link to class blog on the right sidebar. Enter your lastname and firstname as Lastname_firstinitial and your Web page link. Make sure your link appears under STUDENTS’ WEBPAGES widget (0.5 point).
  6. Send your Web page address from your Blackboard email account to my QC email account (0.5 point).
  7. Make sure your email address listed on the Blackboard is working. If you prefer not to check your QC email as often, please forward your QC email address on the Blackboard to your non-QC email account. (1 point).
